Dear Friends,
My last newsletter was written as I was literally packing my bag for International Supercomputing in Hamburg. I am now home, jetlag free, and thinking about our week in Germany and what a success it was.
Have you had the chance to listen to the HPC wire post-ISC podcast? If not, click here. Not to give away the ending, but pssst – we were one of the winners of the show. Hear what Addison Snell of Intersect360 Research, and Michael Feldman of HPCWire, have to say about Whamcloud (starts at 16:00).
Whamcloud at International Supercomputing Conference, Hamburg, Germany
We did 5 presentations, talked to over 300 people in our booth, talked to over 20 media and analysts, and had over 13 reporter mentions. In addition, our whisper suite was booked almost non-stop as the international community was inquisitive about Whamcloud and the future of Lustre.
The first overarching question was the stability of Lustre. The second is what Whamcloud is doing to make Lustre better. Briefly:
- Whamcloud is committed to the growth and stability of Lustre. Our recent release on 1.8.6-wc and our continued work toward the community release of 2.1 are evidence of this.
- Hydra – At ISC we demonstrated one of our feature development projects, code name “Hydra.” Hydra is a GUI-based console for the deployment and management of Lustre file systems. It will make installing, using and troubleshooting Lustre simpler and thus more accessible. Our goal is to broaden the adoption of Lustre in a vendor-neutral way so as to benefit the entire community. We are excited about Hydra and think it will help us meet this goal.
- We are here to stay – Whamcloud is here to stay. We have over 30 of the smartest Lustre people on the planet. We are helping the community solve their Lustre issues to keep their file system environments running, and running at the optimal performance. We are building a self-sustaining and stable business that addresses your needs. We are now open for business, please contact us atsales@whamcloud.com to see how we can help you.
Happy Birthday to Whamcloud
Whamcloud turned one this past weekend. It has been an amazing year and I really want to thank you, the community, for your support. I also need to thank the hard working team here at Whamcloud – with our global footprint, they really are working around the clock to make things better for you. We are also working incredibly diligently at building a mature and dependable business that provides the software and support you need. We in the Lustre community have had an interesting past few years.
Our belief is that strong commitment to and from the community will keep us all happy and allow us to focus on the technology – which matters most. Again, thank you for your support. Please feel free to reach out to me personally () and let us help you.
