You’ve probably already made your decision whether you’re going to LUG 2012 in Austin, TX, Apr 23-25th this year. If you haven’t, please consider joining us as the Lustre community is growing and full of new energy. Early bird registration runs through March 9th.

LUG is now in the second year of being fully run by the community, and it shows. LUG is focused on Lustre technical issues – a real deep dive – and is of the community, for the community, by the community. I’ve been directly involved for many years and am thrilled to see the resurgence in attendance, energy, and, mostly importantly, relevance. If you’re into Lustre, you simply have to be there.

To help get things rolling, DataDirect Networks and Whamcloud are sponsoring a Pre-LUG party right next to the main LUG location that first Sunday night, Apr 22nd. Just like other tech shows, you know some of the best connections are made outside of the talks. It is being held at Zax Restaurant & Bar right next to the Hyatt Regency Austin. We’re closing the restaurant down, it’s just Lustre people from 7pm – 10pm. Please consider this your invitation, and we hope to see you there!

As you might expect, Whamcloud will be doing a ton of presenting at the show. A total of 8 talks by Whamcloud engineers over the 2+ days of activities will keep us busy. That’s the way we like it! Here’s a quick list. If you want more information on any of the topics, please come by and ask questions. Direct interactions are always the best.

The full LUG 2012 agenda is available on OpenSFS.org.

And, on the release side, Lustre 2.1.1 is out. As Peter Jones, Support Manager at Whamcloud, talked about recently, we’ve designated Lustre 2.1.x as our maintenance release stream moving forward. Prominent Lustre sites like LLNL and CEA have both been aggressive in adopting Lustre 2.x releases. More details here.

So, we’re hoping you’ll sign up for LUG and come talk Lustre with us. Maybe we can even make it out to 6th street together and take in some good music. Either way, hope to see you there.

Go Lustre!

Brent
